De functie
With the help of data, we can organize our daily processes smarter, more efficiently and more effectively. The various business domains of Schiphol are taking exciting steps to become ever more data-driven, supporting the vision of a truly Autonomous Airport. This journey is not without challenges: the quality and availability of data are critical for success, data issues must be resolved smoothly, and privacy and ethics aspects must be always safeguarded.
As Data Governance Capability Lead, you have a number of ‘hats’ and associated activities:
1:
You are the day-to-day operational team lead for the Data Governance Team, the team consists of:
- a data management sub team, working on a data catalog implementation, DQ engine development, and reference data management
- a group of approximately five enthusiastic data governance consultants also providing the role of data steward.
Under your leadership the team supports the Schiphol business domains to get value out of our data, in a responsible way, meanwhile contributing to the resolution of prioritized data issues.
You help the team grow professionally, provide direction where needed, and report on their activities to the DnA Leadership team. You guide the way forward, building upon the hard work that has been done in the past three years.
2:
You are the primary subject matter expert for Data Governance topics within Schiphol. You are responsible to bring data governance practice at Schiphol to a higher level of maturity. You drive the development of methodology, guardrails and technology in support of the data governance and data management activities. You maintain relations with important stakeholders such as the Head of Data Technologies, the Data Leads, the other DnA Capability Leads and the architecture team. You oversee data governance and data quality processes within the (central) DnA environment. For the broader Schiphol organization, you initiate the required activities to support decentralized data governance and data quality processes in a ‘self-service’ way, with less direct involvement of the DG team.
3:
For 15% to 20% of your time, you are positioned within the CIO Office to develop / maintain / own / promote data governance guardrails that apply to the broader Schiphol organization (also outside the DnA organization)
Your added value
Your presence is critical to make sure that data governance activities are well geared towards business value and strategic goals. All data-driven activity within Schiphol, especially around the DnA platform, will be more meaningful, more reliable and more impactful because of your presence and efforts. If the business stakeholders perceive the data governance capability as an enabler instead of a cost driver, you did your job well. Thanks to you, your team members can work in a stable, pleasant and trusted context.
