What will you do?For one of our business platforms, we are looking for a new director of technology, who will lead the business platform together with the director of product. The shared responsibility lies in the performance of the teams, the quality of the products, and the assigned budget. You will lead, support, and improve the business platform. With a focus on the technology & architecture vision, roadmap, and leading the continuous change and improvement cycle regarding new ways of working, looking at the adoption of new technologies, crafts, and tools. You will take accountability for the business impact generated by the business platform. You are the hierarchical manager of engineering leaders, software engineers, data science leaders, data scientists, data analysts, scrum masters, and the platform architect within the platform. Coach and mentor talent and teams to increased levels of performance and take care of their well-being and job satisfaction.
The key result areas of the director of technology are:
- Ensuring that the platform architecture and design of products are in accordance with up-to-date industry best practices;
- Embedding exploration, experimentation, research & development in a culture of curiosity and continuous learning. Also, enabling good life cycle management;
- To apply BizDevOps way of thinking based on full end-to-end ownership and accountability for the IT product;
- Securing high-performing teams that deliver products with high efficiency and built-in quality. Securing optimal team set-up by diversity, mixing internal/external, and location.
- Responsible for Data Management execution in the platform as well as raising Data Management Awareness. And delivering risk management and mitigation.
Where do you land?The core of this young department is business platforms, consisting of product teams organized around business processes, whereby product and tech are together end-to-end responsible for the digital products and services that support those business processes.
In the last 3 years, we implemented 5 business platforms in Passenger Operations and HR domains. Currently we're continuous improving our organisation to move towards the goal we set ourselves.
You land in a young department of Business Platform Ground, and you will report to the VP Technology & Technical Innovation.
Your profileWe are looking for a servant leader with a strong agile mindset leading by example. You promote and stimulate the empowerment of teams and people. Are you capable of inspiring, motivating, and coaching the people to adapt to the new organizational set-up and towards the new way of working? And do you fully embrace and support the D&T design and the two-in-a-box leadership together with the Director of Product?
- Full partner of executive and senior management;
- You have extensive, hands-on IT knowledge. And have up-to-date knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies and industry best practices in the area of engineering and data science;
- You can manage teams located elsewhere;
- You have profound knowledge of agile and are experienced in working with it. Also looking at knowledge of LEAN or other continuous improvement methods;
- Knowledge of financial processes and how to apply;
- Up-to-date on developments in the field of Data Management processes, legislation, and how it's embedded within KLM.
