- Of course, you will receive proper guidance throughout: you’ll have weekly check-ins with your mentor, and you’ll have the freedom to experiment within the boundaries of the internship
- “Deep Turnaround” is a Schiphol-developed product that is offered to airports worldwide through Aviation Solutions. It generates data and corresponding analytics specifically designed for the airport ecosystem—developed by an airport, for airports.

What will you do as a Machine Learning Intern? You will apply your talents to Deep Turnaround, a system that uses real-time image feeds from cameras located on aircraft ramps. By stacking various machine learning and deep learning models, Deep Turnaround tracks everything happening around the aircraft and predicts potential delays. This information helps ground handlers, airlines, and airport personnel improve the on-time performance at Schiphol, directly impacting the travel experience of its customers. Your responsibilities are:
- Analyzing operational data to identify bottlenecks, recurring patterns, and root causes of delays or inefficiencies.
- Applying process mining methods to map current workflows and uncover improvement opportunities.
- Assessing the business value and feasibility of applying specific analytical tools or solutions within operations settings.
You've got this
- Available: 1 September till 1 February.
- Days per week: 4 days per week.
- Education level: Universities of Applied Sciences (HBO) and Research Universities (WO).
- Education: Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in a field related to Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Mathematics, Information Science, or Engineering.\
- Programming: We work mostly in Python. Familiarity with bash and data science packages such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, etcetera is expected.
- ML foundations: A good core machine learning concepts (supervised/unsupervised learning, overfitting, bias vs variance, evaluation metrics, cross validation etcetera).
You get this
- € 450 gross per month, based on a full-time internship of 40 hours per week.
