"Are we ready to take off?" This is one of the most important questions within KLM.
The airline industry is turbulent and has developed very quickly in recent years. KLM's mission is to become the most Data & Technology driven airline in the world. Changing the way we work, modernizing our technology stack and architecture and the right positioning of the people in this Data & Technology organization is key to achieving this ambition.
Wat ga je doen?Platform Flight is part of the Data & Technology organisation between KLM IT and KLM business domains. You’ll be working in a young, multidisciplinary team, in a small, well-coordinated group, close to the operation. We are generalists and specialists at the same time, creating a dynamic environment where it’s “never a dull moment.”
The efforts of our team enable pilots to communicate with air traffic controllers or KLM specialists via a dedicated chat function. If it appears, for instance, that an aircraft engine, which is monitored in real-time, is showing high fuel consumption, action can be taken. This could indicate a potential engine fault. Communication between air and ground is essential in such cases. The chat function also enables the fuel provider at London Heathrow to receive a message, so unnecessary trips to KLM Cityhoppers are a thing of the past—now they know when the planes still have sufficient fuel on board. Additionally, our colleagues in the cabin receive information about the flight on their screens, some of which comes directly from the aircraft. This data, which you manage, is seamlessly tailored to meet the needs of the flight crew.
Waar land je?You’ll dive into a real-world challenge that impacts daily aviation operations: investigating potential radio interference at Schiphol Airport. Aircraft communication relies on clear radio signals, yet with the increase of electronic devices, LED systems, and other technology, the radio spectrum has become more crowded. This issue isn’t unique to KLM—many airlines are noticing interference at their home airports. Your role will be to research and analyze whether similar interferences affect KLM at Amsterdam Airport. You’ll work closely with our tech and operations teams to understand the scope of the issue and contribute directly to KLM’s safety and efficiency.
Jouw profielYou’re a curious and proactive team player who feels right at home in the world of aviation. You pick up new knowledge quickly. You’re also flexible and adapt smoothly to changes. With your strong communication skills, you work effortlessly with various stakeholders—from aircraft technicians and pilots to flight dispatchers and IT specialists. Your “getting things done” mentality and methodical approach take you far, and you bring high energy to continually improve KLM and our department.
Wat bieden wijKLM offers you a highly instructive experience in a dynamic organisation in which you will play an important role.
