De functie
Schiphol is a complex and dynamic environment, where operations are run by stakeholders with different roles, needs and responsibilities. Keeping all parties up to date with the latest information is challenging, especially since a lot of communication happens via phone. We are investigating how a conversational AI system can understand human conversations and assist in airport decision making.
This system requires capturing information from verbal communication between stakeholders to enrich a knowledge database and allow database mutations by humans via natural interactions such as speech. A key aspect of this system is to convert speech (via text) to structured data and mutations.
For example. There is a daily plan for which aircraft will be located at which gates throughout that day. A gateplanner is in charge of this planning and might get a call that an aircraft is delayed, upon which the planning needs to be updated. The AI system will need to capture the information shared by phone (“flight XXXX is delayed by 15min”), update the database, and interpret the gateplanner’s instructions (“move flight YYYYY from Charlie 10 to Delta 30”)."
The internship:
The internship involves investigating and developing a proof-of-concept (PoC) for the conversion of speech to text to structured data and mutations. You will do a literature search to find state-of-the-art solutions, gather data, develop an AI model, set-up a processing pipeline, and validate your solution. One of the main challenges will be to get this working on highly domain-specific data.
Jij bent
- You are a master student in artificial intelligence, computer science or a related study.
- You are pragmatic and want to build stuff.
- You have a collaborative attitude and regard the internship as an opportunity.
- You have experience in Python.
- Your internship will last 6+ months.
Wij bieden
You will work as a member of product teams consisting of multiple engineers and scientist, as part of Schiphol’s Data Science and Engineering Lab (DSEL). And of course, all of this at a cool office location where aircraft will pass by your window while you work.
